He wants a tree that takes up his entire back, with empty branches. 

And every time something important happens in his life (Graduating college, kids, etc.) he will add a leaf and something to represent whatever the life event is.

So by the end of his life, his tree will be filled, with all the important things that happened in his life.

I just think that’s so fucking beautiful.
